Jonah 3:1-10

Psalm 51

Luke 11:29-32

The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time.  Jonah 3:1

Lord, you are a God of second chances.  You didn’t give up on Jonah when he ran away from you.  After some time out to think about it in the belly of the fish, Jonah decided that avoiding your call was not the best choice.  How many chances would you have given him?  You gave Peter a second chance after he denied you.  You seem to understand our human nature very well and so give us a mulligan when we hit the ball into the woods on the first try.  Lord, I am amazed how you have stuck with me given all my poor choices.  You’ve never given up on me despite the times when I ran from your call.  Thank you, Lord, for giving me so many second chances to get it right.  May your grace today overwhelm my fear or reluctance to answer your call to me.  I trust in you to walk with me even when I want to walk away.  Amen.
