…and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit… Acts 2:4

Lord, your Holy Spirit dramatically came upon your Apostles with fire and fury.  They must have been awe-struck by what was happening to them.  Then they spoke languages that had been unknown to them.  What a difference the presence of God in the Spirit made in their lives.  Fear was changed to courage.  Apprehension was transformed to boldness.  They received understanding and wisdom to go out of the upper room and transform the world.  Lord, at my Baptism you blessed me with the same Spirit.  The same gifts received by your Apostles are available to me.  The Spirit came to unify all mankind as one people in praise and worship of the Father.   This is accomplished through a diversity of gifts and vocations.  I am grateful for the gifts I have been granted.  It may take a lifetime to discover and develop them but I trust in your wisdom and patience.  Make your Spirit active in my heart and visible in my deeds.  Never allow me to be jealous of someone else’s gifts.  Help me to always rely on the Spirit to guide my decisions, my words, my relationships and my actions.  Amen.
