“If you prefer the left, I will go to the right…Gen. 13:9

Lord, to keep harmony in the family clan Abram allows his nephew Lot to choose where he will settle with his flocks and riches.  Lot chooses the well watered plain leaving Abram a less desirable land.   However the rich plain is also the place of Sodom, a city of sinful people.  Abram is rewarded by God with blessings and descendants.  He is preserved from the disaster that will come to Sodom.  Lord, we make a lot of choices each day.  A few of them are small and seem to be of minor importance.  Others are huge and life-changing.  You call us to choose the narrow, rugged road of repentance rather than the wide and smooth road that leads to destruction.  Living our faith is hard and at times inconvenient.  The world contains so many temptations like Sodom.  But the way marked out by you is the way to eternal life.  Please guide my decisions today, both big and small.  Most of all give me the vision and the courage to always choose to do to others whatever I would have them to do me.  I place my decisions in your hands, dear Jesus.  I trust in you.  Amen.
