Acts of the Apostles 18:23-28

Psalm 47

John 16:23-28

…they took him aside and explained to him the Way of God more accurately.  Acts 18:26

Lord, Apollos was a highly effective preacher of your good news.  However, he had not heard the full message.  Consequently, he needed to be coached by Priscilla and Aquila about what he lacked.  They took him aside and gently taught him what would complete his training in the faith.  Thankfully, Apollos was humble enough to accept correction.  Their encouragement spurned him on to even greater effectiveness in witnessing to you.  Lord, I too am sometimes in need of correction.  Sometimes I don’t take it as well as Apollos.  My pride can, at times, get in the way of my growth in your ways.  Help me to be more humble and accepting of good intentioned coaching.  I know you only want the best for me.  You also want me to be what you created me to be.  I still have unfulfilled potential as a witness to your love.  May I never shy away from living the gospel truth as I have come to understand it.  I will listen and ponder all that I hear about you from unusual or unexpected sources and people.  St. Justin pray for us.  Amen.
