“Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.” John 8:11

Lord, in this gospel you encounter both accusers and the accused.  You saw into the hearts of all of them.  Besides their terrible abuse of this woman for their selfish purposes, the scribe’s and Pharisee’s sins are not known.   Did you write their sins in the dust with your finger?  The woman’s sin is known to all.  I wonder what happened to those accusers after they dropped their stones and walked away.  Did they repent and turn from their evil ways?  This woman owes her life to you.  Given a second chance, I want to imagine she went away to sin no more and is with you in heaven today.  Lord, I too am a sinner in need of your mercy and forgiveness.  While I manage to hide most of my sins from other people, I can’t hide them from you.  I thank you so much for not condemning me and for all the second chances you have provided me.  As we approach the days of your cross and resurrection I ask for the same forgiveness you gave the woman.  With your grace I too can ‘”go and sin no more.”  Amen
