1 Samuel 1:1-8

Psalm 116

Mark 1:14-20

“The Kingdom of God is at hand.  Repent and believe in the Gospel.” Mk. 1:15

Lord, your ministry started very humbly. In Mark’s account you chose just four fishermen in Galilee to follow you and to help you proclaim the good news of salvation. You must have been very pleased at how quickly they left their former livelihoods and families to become an important part of your Kingdom. You chose well, despite the mistakes they would make, they eventually gave their lives for you. They took seriously your encouragement to repent and have faith in the truth of the Gospel. Lord, I know you are calling me to leave my nets and follow you. I am just one person, but I know you value everything I touch in my efforts to be your disciple. I need to leave behind whatever hinders achieving what you created me to achieve. I am so privileged to be a citizen of your Kingdom on earth. I pray that with your grace, guidance and blessing I can repent and grow in faith in this new year. May your peace fill me with confidence that all my prayers are always answered according to your will.  Help me to do small things with great love.  Amen.
