Matthew 16:13-19

I sought the Lord and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.  Ps. 34:5

Lord, the heroes of our faith that we remember today were outstanding witnesses to you and the good news of salvation. Both men weren’t always so. Both had come from lives much different form when they served you. They left behind their sins of denial and persecution when they were transformed by your grace into courageous and faithful leaders and evangelists for you. Lord you know well of my past too. You know I have not always been pure and perfect. There have been times when I did not please you by the way I lived. But you didn’t give up on me. You patiently called me from that time of darkness into your wonderful light. I’m so very grateful for your love for me and your confidence in me. Lord, continue to show me the path to holiness for I still have a ways to go. I’m sure Peter and Paul made some mistakes along the way as I do. But I’m certain you will always be there for me. I marvel at the power of your grace to overcome anything that stands in the way on my road to you.  Amen.
