April 23, 2020 Thursday of the 2nd Week of Easter –A ST, GEORGE, MARTYR

Acts of the Apostles 5: 27-33

Psalm 34

John 3:31-36

“We must obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29

Dear Jesus, your followers had a choice to make. They could be forced into silence by the authorities or they could obey your last command to them: “you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8.  Your word today confirms they chose to obey God rather than men. Lord, your Holy Spirit gave them the courage and the good judgment to choose rightly whenever there was a conflict between the word of man and the word or God. By my Baptism and Confirmation I have received the same command. Today there are still conflicts between the word of man and the word of God. I have been given the grace of the gifts of the Spirit to use to proclaim your good news in every circumstance. May I clearly see the right path before me and may I never fear the punishment, embarrassment or inconvenience of living my Christian life in all ways.  Eternal life is the goal of all my decisions. To do the will of the Father is my daily prayer. I also pray for all those who have been led astray by the word of man. May they repent and come home to you. St. George pray for us.  Amen.  Alleluia
