Isaiah 4:2-6

Psalm 122

Matthew 8:5-11

“May blessings be yours.”  Psalm 122:9

“Lord, I am not worthy…; only say the word and my servant will be healed.”  Matthew 8:8

Lord, we have begun our Advent journey and the countdown to Christmas has begun. Let us not only think of the destination but the road to it as well. You were amazed and impressed with the faith you found in the Roman officer. He was a most unusual and unexpected person in which to find humility, compassion and love.  You graciously responded to this man’s faith in you by healing his servant. You also set him up as a model for all time.  We repeat his words at every Mass just before receiving you in Holy Communion. Just as you healed this man’s servant you heal and strengthen our souls with your Body and Blood.  Lord may my Advent journey bring me to greater faith, humility and awareness of your presence. By daily reflecting on your word, attending Mass more often, frequent prayer and receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation may I grow in holiness and readiness to celebrate at my destination. I too am not worthy, but I invite you into my heart, dear Jesus, to receive your blessings, to be transformed and to be one with you.  Amen.
