June 20, 2020 Saturday of the 11th Week in Ordinary time–A THE IMMACULATE HEART OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

2 Chronicles 24:17-25

Psalm 89

Luke 3:41-51

“Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” Lk. 3:49

Lord, when you stayed behind in Jerusalem we are told it caused anxiety and worry for Mary and Joseph. I must believe that was not your intent but a result of you beginning to live your mission. Any 12 year old boy may at times cause worry and anxiety for his parents.  But this is a clear signal that obedience to your Father comes before everything else, even family. Your mother and father were so obedient too in that they make the long journey to the Temple each Passover. Simeon had prophesied that sorrow will pierce your mother’s heart. This was one of those sorrows. Your parents didn’t fully understand but they accepted God’s will in everything. They accepted that you must be about your Father’s work. Lord, help me to accept the will of God especially in those times when I don’t understand. You were obedient to your parents upon returning home. Your mother pondered everything about you in her Immaculate Heart. From the cross you gave your mother to be my mother. I lift up my prayers to her who is full of grace and blessed among all women. Dear Mother in heaven may I have a heart as pure as yours.  Amen.
