Psalm 23

John 8:1-11

“Neither do I condemn you, Go and from now on do not sin anymore.” John 8:11

Lord, you exposed the hypocrisy of those who had brought the woman before you. They had no interest in punishing this woman. Their real motive in doing this was to expose you as a false prophet. You turned the tables on them and they went away in guilt and shame.  Your words had to be the sweetest words the woman ever heard. You forgave her sin and released her from death. Every time we come to Confession with a sincere repentant heart we go away with the same joy and relief as this woman.  What a gift you have given us in this great Sacrament of Reconciliation. We don’t know what happened to the woman after this encounter with the grace of Reconciliation but I like to think she changed her life and lived in Chastity.  We must do the same and allow God to lead us to purity and holiness. Thank you Lord for giving this woman a second chance and all the grace you have given me in your great Sacrament. I also believe you somehow forgave those men who had accused her.  Lord, may I be as forgiving as you.  Amen.
