Ecclesiastes 3:1-11

Psalm 144

Luke 9:18-22

There is an appointed time for everything… Ecc. 3:1

“But who do you say that I am?”  Lk. 9:20

Lord, none of us can know the number of days that will pass from our birth to our death.  Only you know how much time we have been given.  Given that, we must always be prepared to meet you after passing through death’s door.  We ask for forgiveness for our past poor use of time.  We cannot control or know the future.  All we have control of is the present, right now, today.   Lord, I ask you to guide my decisions on how I will use today.  You asked a very personal question of your Apostles: “who do you say that I am?”  If I believe with all my heart that you are my savior, my Lord and my God then I will live this day to its fullest.  If I accept God’s will whether it is for joy or sorrow, peace or conflict, mourning or dancing, then I will live the abundant life you came to give me.  The uncertainty of how many days I have left leads me to accept and to trust in you completely.  I place every minute and every hour of this day, and all days, in your grace-filled and loving hands.  Jesus, I trust in you.  Amen.
