Psalm 119

Luke 9:1-6

Your word, O Lord, is a lamp for my feet.”  Ps. 119:105

“Take nothing for the journey…”  Lk. 9:3

Lord, a teacher once told me, to “learn by doing”.  After walking with you for a while and observing your ministry among the people your disciples get their chance.  What a great honor it is to be chosen, prepared and then sent to extend the kingdom of God to new territory.  To tell people of God’s love for them and to be instruments of healing were huge challenges for these fishermen and non-professional ministers.  They likely made mistakes, sometimes failed in getting the message across and were rejected by some.  But they didn’t give up out of fear of failure.  They left behind distractions and trusted in God to provide for their needs.  They had enough faith to let God light the path for them and they were rewarded by seeing the power of God’s word at work.  Lord, you have chosen, prepared and have sent me too.   Who will you put in my path today that needs my full attention?  Don’t let me shy away from bringing the Good News of your love and mercy to someone who needs it.  Don’t let the demands of the world, a hectic schedule or lack of confidence distract me from my mission.   Jesus, I trust in you.  Amen.
