Psalm 149

Luke 6:12-19

Jesus departed to the mountain to pray… Lk. 6:12

Lord, before every big decision or event in your life you spent time in prayer to your Father.  After seeking his will and being guided by his Spirit you came down the mountain and selected your twelve Apostles.  They were the closest friends you had while on earth.  They heard all your teachings, saw all your miracles and were blessed by walking the road with you every day.  They saw you heartbroken when the people rejected you, the scandal by the temple money changers, and your determination to complete your journey to the cross.  They heard the good news of God’s love for all people.  They also received the commission to build your kingdom after you ascended to your Father.  Lord, I have inherited from your apostles my mission to build your kingdom in this world.  While I may not be known through the ages like they were, my work is important nevertheless.  Like the Apostles, I rely on your grace when I am challenged and your forgiveness when I fail you.  I lift all my small needs, worries, fears and pains to you.  Dear Jesus, heal my mind and my heart so I too can be your witness like the twelve.  Amen.
