Galatians 1:13-24

Psalm 139

Luke 10:38-42

“Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.”  Lk. 10:42

Lord, all day long we make choices based on how we set our priorities.  In your day, offering hospitality to a guest in the home was the host’s highest duty.  So Martha was doing a good thing when she prepared dinner and ensured you were comfortable in her home.  Mary also did a good thing by giving you her complete attention and listening to your every word.  You gently reminded Martha that the priority for now, for both sisters, was to form personal and intimate relationships with you.  There would be time to fix dinner later.  Listening to you comes first and is the most important thing.  Lord, your words and truth can transform me and feed me for life.  There is also a time to work to build up your kingdom.  But I can’t do that unless I am bonded to you, strengthened by you and graced by you.  Help me, dear Jesus, to make good choices today.  Always guide my priorities so I choose good over evil.  And when it comes time to stop and listen, may I give you all my attention. Lord, I welcome you into my home and my heart.   Amen.
