Isaiah 12:2-6

Luke 12:39-48

“Who then is that faithful and prudent steward…”  Lk. 12:42

Lord, we have an expression: “when the cat’s away the mice will play”.   When the boss is away and not with the workers, we can sometimes slack off and not be as vigilant or faithful in our duties.  But you commend those who are responsible in their work for you at all times.  In addition, since we don’t know when we will come before you in judgment, we can put off making changes in how we live or in turning away from a bad habit or sin.  Lord, I want to be “that faithful and prudent steward” in your parable.  I want you to be pleased with everything I think, say and do today.   It will take vigilance and prayer, but I believe you have showered me with the abundant grace needed to do it.  You expect return equal to your investment in me.  Lord, you know how weak I am and how I sometimes make poor choices in my use of your blessings.  Keep my faith strong and show me the path you have marked out for me.  Be my strength and my courage.  I thank you for hearing my prayer.  Amen.
