If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit. Gal. 5:25
Lord, what does life in the Spirit look like? How do I know I am living it? According to St. Paul life in the Spirit is embracing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. What a different world we would live in if all of us practiced these works. Mostly, Lord, I shift back and forth between living in the flesh and living in the Spirit. Sometimes I respond with anger, envy, jealousy and I choose materialism and so on. Other times I am patient, kind and gentle. I guess the challenge before me is to consistently choose life in the Spirit. I admit to not being able to do this all on my own. Help me with just one of these fruits today. May I choose patience rather than self-centeredness. Or may I react with joy at a rival’s success. Show me how to avoid occasions of sin and walk in faithfulness to you. Jesus, one day at a time. Thank you for your Spirit’s guidance and help. Amen.
