…humbly regard others as more important than yourselves… Phil 2:3

Lord, St. Paul challenges us today to put selfishness and self-importance behind us.  He calls us to not only look out for our own interests but also the interests of our brothers and sisters- which is easier said than done  This he says, will produce a unity in our families and community that will give glory to God.  We too often take the attitude that to be happy and successful we have to “look out for number one.”  Or we believe that “it’s all about me.”   He makes his point by saying:  ‘Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also in Christ Jesus.”  Lord, this is not always easy to do. Can you help by showing me how I can begin to put others’ needs ahead of mine?  Maybe today I can take one small step and say or do something for a coworker, neighbor or even a stranger that will lift them up.  Maybe I could extend a courtesy to another driver on the road.  Lord, I lift up all my words and actions to you to bless them and to give you the glory you deserve.  Amen.
