Revelation 15:1-4
Psalm 98
Luke 21:12-19
“By your perseverance you will secure your lives.” Lk. 21:19
Lord, it’s hard for me to put myself in the place of your disciples when you warned them about the cost of following you. Would I have called it quits when you said that I could be arrested, tortured and executed for believing in you? How would I feel if I was “turned in” by a family member to save their own life? Hopefully this will not happen but I do know that those who faithfully live their faith in you can be persecuted in many other ways. My belief in true marriage as only between a man and a woman is not accepted by many and it even has become a part of our law. My respect for life from conception to natural death is not accepted by a large percentage of people and it too is not protected by law. Public prayer is prohibited in schools and workplaces. It would be easy to keep my belief in you secret and just “get along.” But that would not be living my faith in you. You showed us all how to maintain loyalty to the Father and being true to what is right. Give me the courage to persevere. Amen
