“My kingdom does not belong to this world.” John 18:36

Lord, when he tempted you in the desert Satan offered you a kingdom in this world.  Pilate would ask you if you indeed were the king of the nation of Israel.  Both times you refused the trappings and honors of a king.  As king you don’t seek riches, power, or an easy life.  You are a different kind of king.  You are a king who serves your subjects.  You are a king who gave up your throne and became one with your people.  You suffered with them.  You put up with their insults and were rejected by many.  You even let them put you to death.  Today you still identify with us and reach down to us offering all the blessings of mercy and grace we need.  I surrender to you all my weaknesses, my sufferings, my hopes and my dreams.  I long to be held close by you when I am afraid.  I ask you to guide me in my decisions and to help me to follow your will for me in everything.   You are my king! Come reign in my heart.  Come, Lord Jesus. Amen.
