May 3, 2017 Wednesday of the 3rd Week of Easter-A STS. PHILLIP AND JAMES, APOSTLES

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

Psalm 19

John 14:6-14

“…whoever believes in me will do the works that I do… John 14:12

Lord, we have an expression: “actions speak louder than words.”  How we behave and what we do reveals what we believe.  There’s another phrase:  “talk is cheap”.  In your word today you equate belief and work.  You want us to know that you expect our faith in you will lead to doing the work you started.  It makes sense that you want us to follow your example of doing the work your Father sent you to do.  Lord, I believe you are the only Son of the eternal Father who created and sustains all there is.  I believe you died for me on the cross and rose again.  I believe you have a purpose for my life and have given me unique gifts, blessings and opportunities to continue the building of your kingdom.  Lord, you said “ask anything of me in my name and I will do it.”  I ask for the courage and the energy to fulfill the reason for which you chose me.  Lord, may your powerful grace help me to live my faith today.  Time to go to work!

Amen.
