Psalm 47

John 16:20-23

No one will take your joy away from you.  John 16:22

Lord, the surface of the ocean can be calm and peaceful or it can rage with huge waves in violent storms.  Below the surface the water is unaffected by the storm above.  Our lives can be like the ocean.  Turmoil can come upon us in times of worry, sickness or grief.  Our surface can be stormy.  But because I believe your promise that you will be with me always the depth of my heart can remain peaceful and joyful always.  You offer a peace that isn’t touched by the troubles of the world.  No matter what will happen to me today deep down inside I have joy because I am loved by you.  My foundation is you, dear Lord, and nothing can take that joy away.  I know in my heart that all tribulation is temporary while your love for me is eternal.  Lord, I ask the Father in your name to keep me steady and patient in the storms of life so I can reach my destination in peace.  Amen.
