“…you should turn from these idols to the living God.” Acts 14:15
“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit…will teach you everything…” John 14:26
Lord, in the great wisdom of God’s plan for us he sent us exactly what we needed to carry on after your Ascension to heaven. God knew how quickly we would forget what you taught and did for us during your time on earth. The Holy Spirit is a constant reminder of your love and is a source of learning so that we can live the good news of our salvation. We still battle against the temptation to turn to false gods and idols and to fail to see how you still care for us each day. The worship of technology, convenience, entertainment, money and pleasure can fill us so there is no room for what your Spirit wants to teach us. We can surround ourselves with so much noise that the whispering of the Spirit doesn’t have a chance. Lord, you are a living God who wants only the best for us. Help me today to put down the cell phone, the tablet or the TV remote and rest in quiet with you for a while. Tune my heart to hear the good news of your love for me. May I be open to the message of your Spirit. Amen
