Acts of the Apostles 9:1-20

Psalm 117

John 6:52-59

“Go, for this man is a chosen instrument of mine…”  Acts 9:15

“He who eats this bread will live forever.”  John 6:58

Lord, Saul was the last man on earth that people expected to be chosen by you to be your most faithful and dedicated apostle.  He was a most surprising choice.   Drinking your blood and eating your body is a most unexpected and surprising way of achieving eternal life.   The entire experience of our encounter with you can only be described as very surprising.  Without a doubt the most awesome truth of our faith is that you, the Son of God, would become one of us and die on a cross so our relationship with the Father could be restored.   Lord, all this isn’t logical and on many levels doesn’t make human sense.  Only with your gift of faith does it make God-sense to us.  Paul came to faith in you in a most unique and dramatic way.  My faith journey is unique to me as well.  Thank you for choosing me to be your instrument too.  Thank you for nourishing me with the Holy Eucharist.  And thank you for dying on the cross in my place.  I pray today for the grace to be faithful to this most surprising and unexpected life in you.  Amen.
