Sirach 35:1-12

Psalm 50

Mark 10:28-31

In a generous spirit pay homage to the Lord, be not sparing of freewill gifts.  Sir. 35:7

“We have given up everything and followed you.”  Mk. 10:28

Lord, why did Peter think it necessary to remind you that he and the other disciples had given up so much to follow you?  You were well aware of each sacrifice they had made.  Was he fishing for a compliment or wanting to appear great in your eyes?  Lord, you have blessed me with such an abundance of all I need.  Your gift of time is a blessing which can be overlooked.  You have given me many years to grow in faith and to bear fruit for your kingdom.  May I use the time I have to honor you and to serve my brothers and sisters.  You have also blessed me with many talents and abilities.  You have guided me to opportunities to use my experience and gifts to build up your kingdom.  I am in a time and place that pleases you so show me the way to serve you.  Finally, I have material blessings and adequate finances to live in peace.  Help me to see my wealth as your wealth and to be generous and a cheerful source of tithes for the good of your church and others.  You are in control, dear Jesus.  Thank you for your many blessings.  Amen.
