Deuteronomy 4:1, 5-9

Psalm 147

Matthew 5:17-19

“However, take care and…teach them to your children and to your children’s children.  Dt. 4:9

“But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”  Mt. 5:19

Lord, Moses and you solemnly declare that as your disciples we are called to pass on what we have received.  The faith you have blessed us with is a treasure which must be handed on by each generation of believers.  We do that for the sake of future generations as well as to ensure the continuation of your church.  We are so grateful to the thousands of generations before us who have followed your command so that we could receive the gift of faith.  You have shown us what it is we pass on and that is love of God and neighbor.  May I do that by my words and my actions.  Help me to be a witness to your truth and how you faced down evil. Show me how to use the unique gifts, talents and opportunities you have placed in me to do my part.  Even those of us who don’t have children are invited to make the Catholic faith a light to those in darkness so they too can one day enter into everlasting light.  Please, Lord, give me the grace to be great in your kingdom.  Amen.
