Lord, man-made and natural disasters are all too common in our world. You spoke about two of them in your time. You teach us that life is precious and that you are very much aware of our suffering. So much of our misery is the result of man’s cruelty to man. These sins cry out to heaven for your judgment. But you are very patient with us. You are the God of second chances and third chances and more. You give us this season of Lent every year as an opportunity to turn from our evil ways and look to you for holiness. You are eager to forgive and your sacred heart is an abundant font of mercy. We are reminded daily in the news that life is short and we can be victims of evil or accidents or natural disasters at any time. None of us know how many days we have left on this earth. So the time to repent is now, today. You give us the sacraments of the Church to bring us back to you. Help me not to delay one more day. I thank you, Lord, for listening and answering my prayer. Amen.
