Micah 7:14-15, 18-20

Psalm 103

Luke 15:1-3, 11-32

You will cast into the depths of the sea all our sins… Micah 7:19

…his father caught sight of him… He ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him.  Lk. 15:20

Lord, even before the son spoke his words of confession the father was hugging him and kissing him with great joy.  Just the sight of his beloved son coming home filled the father with forgiveness and pardon.  He gave up all dignity and ran to his son.  Had he been searching the road everyday hoping to see him coming home?  Lord, you gave up your life on the cross to redeem us from our sins even before we confessed them.  You extend your mercy to tax collectors, Pharisees, prostitutes, ungrateful children, abortionists, child abusers and even me.  You delight in throwing our sins into the sea never to be seen or heard from again.  Lord, please give me the grace to admit all the times I have strayed from you, disobeyed you and stubbornly gone my own ways.  Don’t let me sink so low into darkness like the son who was starving and tending the pigs.  But bring me to my senses so I can make the right choice and return to you.  May this Lent be the right time to make things right with you.  Amen.
