June 5, 2019 Wednesday of the 7th Week of Easter-C ST BONIFACE, BISHOP, MARTYR

Acts of the Apostles 20:28-38

Psalm 68

John 17:11-19

“And now I commend you to God and to that gracious word of his that can build you up…”  Acts 20:32

Lord, you and Paul are saying goodbye to your disciples.  Each of you are giving them final instructions and alerting them to the rewards and difficulties that lie ahead for them.  You do not sugar-coat what it means to be a disciple.  You have prepared them well.  They are going to be guided by the Holy Spirit.  They knew each of you intimately and are ready for the next step.  It’ll be different and challenging like all new things are.  Lord, we all go through transitions and must make adjustments many times in life.  But we have all we need in your sacred word, the sacraments of your church and the ever-presence of the Holy Spirit.  You will never abandon us and will always provide grace sufficient for each trial.  We are Resurrection people and people of hope.  There is no such thing as a joyless Christian.   So Lord build me up as you did your disciples as well as Paul’s presbyters.  Make me ready for whatever the road ahead will present.  I trust in your complete confidence in me.  St. Boniface, pray for us.  Amen.
