They all ate and were satisfied. Lk. 9:17
Lord, this day reveals to us what it means to be Catholic. The Eucharist is what our faith is all about. Without this awesome gift there would be no bishops, priests or lay persons. There would be no Vatican, no pope, and no Catholic church. It is truly the source and summit of everything we believe about you. This gift is a love offering from you. As you prepared to die and eventually ascend into heaven you completely desired to continue being close to us your people. So you give yourself to us in every Mass. You gaze upon us with love as we worship in every hour of adoration. You go out the doors of the church with us after Mass to be leaven to a world so in need of being fed. The world today is like those hungry people you fed in the desert. Please, dear Jesus, never let me take the gift of your body and blood for granted. May I always be in awe of what I receive. I thank you, Lord, for feeding me with your word and your gracious sacrament of love. I am in need of nothing else. For after Holy Communion I am satisfied. Amen.
