June 21, 2019 Friday of the 11th Week of Ordinary Time -C ST ALOYSIUS GONZAGA, RELIGIOUS

2 Corinthians 11:18, 21-30

Psalm 34

Matthew 6:19-23

I will boast of the things that show my weakness.  2 Cor. 11:30

…the Lord heard, and from all his distress he saved him.  Ps. 34:18

Lord, boasting of weakness is a strange way to make it in the world.  Imagine going on a job interview with that attitude!  Paul gives us a litany of the many hardships and dangers he faced for preaching the Gospel.  He survived so much because you were with him.  You used him to bring the truth of the gospel and salvation to so many cities and lands.   He bragged about his weakness because he knew you could make him strong.  Lord, I need to be emptied of my puffed up opinion of myself so you can fill me with yourself.  Take away my pride, my ego and self-reliance.  In turn, show me how to depend completely on you to accomplish the work you have given me.  May I bless you at all times not only when things are going good or the road is level and smooth.  I want to promote your way, not my way.  Fill my resume’ with all the ways I have relied on you for strength and perseverance.   I leave the success part up to you.  St. Aloysius Gonzaga pray for us.  Amen.
