Sirach 48:1-14

Psalm 97

Matthew 6:7-15

“…thy Kingdom come, thy will be done…”  Mt. 6:10

Lord, open my heart to the will of our Father.  The prayer you taught us connects us with our loving and merciful Father, our “daddy”.  So close, so attentive to us, he hears every prayer we utter.  Too often we pray that “our” will be done on earth.  He receives that prayer too.  But when we turn the outcome of prayer to accept the will of God, in whatever form that may be, we are truly connected with him.  When we let go of our agenda, our narrow, self-centered requests and embrace what God wants for us we place ourselves in his hands.  We trust that we will receive exactly what is best for us, exactly when it is needed.  Lord, unite my will to yours.  Help me to see the effects of letting go and letting God manage my affairs.  Build up your kingdom in my heart so I can look at the world and those people around me I love with the eyes of faith.   Then let me rest in quiet as you speak to me.  Thank you for hearing my prayer.  Amen.
