Jeremiah 2:1-3, 7-8, 12-13

Psalm 36

Matthew 13:10-17

“…they have forsaken me, the source of living waters…”  Jer. 2:13

“…they look but do not see and hear but do not listen or understand.”  Mt. 13:13

Lord, you have given us the precious gifts of eyesight and hearing.  We learn so much about each other and our world through our senses.  We communicate with each other with words and hear the beauty of a symphony or a song with our ears.  Beyond the physical capabilities of our eyes and ears is the openness of our hearts.  If our hearts are hardened, our wills are stubborn or our minds made up we can hear and see but not actually receive the message sent.  What good are these senses if we don’t accept the truth from your word and your church?  Lord, do not let me be hardened to whatever you want me to see.  Let me not be deaf or blind to the ways you love me and show me your presence.  My unwillingness to be humble before you and to be ready to change can prevent me from being your disciple   Breakdown the walls of my willfulness and melt the hardness of my heart so I can receive your grace and the abundant life you offer.  Be the source of living water in my life today.  Amen.
