Genesis 19:15-29

Psalm 26

Matthew 8:23-27

“Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?” Mt. 8:26

Lord, I can understand your disciples fear when they were caught at sea during a sudden, severe storm.  Lots of storms can arise that can cause us similar feelings of helplessness and terror.  They learned a great lesson about you that day.  They discovered that you, like God, had power over nature and creation.  They also learned that faith was more important than physical safety.  While it’s not our normal human reaction when a storm rips through our life, trusting in you comes first.  Sometimes it seems that all is lost when a medical diagnosis is made of serious health problems.  Divorce, loss of a job, sudden accident and death of a spouse can wreak havoc in any of us.  You want us to focus on you rather than on our problem.  Lord, I believe that just as you calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee you can calm the storms in my life.  Help me to trust that all is not lost as long as I remain faithful to you and trust that you will answer prayers in ways that are best for me.  Amen.
