Psalm 147
Mark 1:7-11
Who is the victor over the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5:5
Lord, we have a saying in sports that goes: “Father Time is undefeated”. I think it means that athletic ability declines with age and will come to an end at some point for everyone. We will all age and one day our life on earth will end. In our small ways of thinking it’s hard to imagine eternity; living forever, beyond time where time and death have been defeated. Lord, your victory over death accomplished all that you came to do. John tells us firmly that when we believe and live the salvation you won for us we are victors over time and death. Father time is defeated. I am victorious over the world thanks to your gift of eternal life. Jesus, I believe even though life without time is a difficult concept for me to understand. So I place my earthly life in your hands. Surrendering to you is not defeat but victory. I believe in your name, my Lord and my God. Amen.
