January 26, 2017 Thursday of the 3rd Week in Ordinary Time-A SAINTS TIMOTHY AND TITUS, BISHOPS
2 Timothy 1:1-8
Psalm 96
Mark 4:21-25
…I recall your sincere faith that first lived in your grandmother…” 2 Timothy 1:5
“Is a lamp brought in to be placed under a bushel basket…?” Mark 4:21
Lord, today I reflect on your gift of faith. This gift has changed me forever. It has sustained me in times of trial, carried me through times of suffering and given me courage in times of fear. You are the source of this faith. I also reflect on how I’ve received this gift. Many people have been and continue to be your witnesses in faith. So many have influenced me by how they live their faith. Paul noted that Timothy’s granny and mom were important in his faith formation. They didn’t experience their love of you as a private devotion. They handed it on by word and example. Lord, this light has been handed on to me. May I be aware of the responsibility I have to be a light to others. Family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and others can all benefit from this light of yours. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for every single person you have brought into my life and who have shown me your light. Amen.
