“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” Mk. 2:28
Lord, obedience to your law is a foundation of our relationship with you. We have the divine law to ensure we hold up our end of the covenant you established for us. Staying faithful to the law also is what is for our personal and collective good. But not all our laws come from you or are just and good. In our country, at this time, our laws permit abortion of children pretty much at any time during pregnancy for any reason. This is a tragic and scandalous situation. So many of our people deny the dignity of life in the womb and resist the truth of your Church. Lord, on this day we call to mind the work we must do to witness to the sacredness of innocent human life. Please help us to change the hearts and minds of good people to respect that life from conception to natural death. Keep this movement strong and firm for the purpose of renewing our laws and to install protections for our children. I pray for all mothers and fathers who struggle with the pressures of unexpected pregnancy. May they listen to your Spirit and save their children. Amen.
