Lord, it is abundantly clear from our readings today that you desire a close, personal relationship with each of us. It’s a priority of yours to bring us close to you. The “big picture” of all that is in the bible is a God seeking an intimate, faithful and lasting relationship with us his creatures, his sons and daughters. Everything you did or said during your time among us in some way promoted or repaired that relationship. Today we hear of you choosing your inner circle, that who would carry on your missions to the world. First they had to get to know you. Lord, today, we in our country inaugurate a new president. My prayer is that you will bring him into close relationship with you. I pray he will follow your will in all his decisions and policies. I also pray the people of our country will surrender to your will and at all times seek the common good of all. May we come into a closer relationship with you so that you will be our God and we shall be your people. Amen
