Hebrews 13:1-8

Psalm 48

Mark 6:14-29

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.  Heb. 13:8

Though war be waged upon me, even then will I trust.   Ps. 27:3

Lord, it seems the only constant in our world today is change.  We change political leadership at every election.  Technology introduces new electronic devices daily.  Clothing styles and music are constantly evolving.  But you do not change.  I pray to you today as the same God who created the universe over 13 billion years ago.  I reflect on the stories of your presence to the Israelites in the desert over 3 thousand years ago.  You are the same God who was tortured and executed for my sins in Jerusalem long ago.  I have grown and matured under you guidance and help all the years of my life.  I am far from perfect, Lord, as you know.  But I can totally rely on your forgiving graces, your constant presence and your love every day of my life.  When trouble, disease or even war confront me I can trust you will be with me and never abandon me.  Like John the Baptist, one day I will die.  But I have faith you will hold my hand at my deathbed and will welcome me into eternal life.  So, there is nothing to be afraid of. Amen.
