Psalm 29

Mark 8:14-21

“Do you have eyes and not see, ears and not hear?”  Mk. 8:18

Lord, your frustration with your disciples comes through loud and clear in today’s gospel.  You could have said: “don’t you guys get it?  What do I have to do to make you understand who I am and what I am doing?”  They missed the obvious that was right in front of them.  Lord, you warn them not to let the lack of faith of the Pharisees into their minds and hearts.   Their hearts were hardened by a narrow view of what God wants for his children.  Even seeing the mighty miracles you performed they missed the point.  Lord, I haven’t watched you multiply loaves, walk on water or raise anyone from the dead.  But I have seen you multiply the effects of my service to others.  I’ve heard how lives have been changed by your word.  I’ve witnessed spiritual and physical healings that can only be explained by your touch.  I’ve seen the effects of your love and forgiveness on my heart and other’s.  Lord, help me see and hear with the eyes and ears of faith all you have done and continue to do for us your children.  Amen.
