Genesis 2:4-9, 15-17

Psalm 104

Mark 7:14-23

Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden… Gen. 2:8

…when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.  Ps. 104:28

Lord, out of your goodness you provided the first man with everything he needed.  You planted a beautiful, lush garden that produced food and all that’s needed for life on this earth.  How good and generous you are to have designed our planet with the perfect conditions for plants, animal and man to thrive, grow and give you praise.  Everywhere we look we see your goodness.  So many of us take this abundance for granted.  It is so convenient and easy today for most of us to get all the food and resources we need.  How can I repay you for all you have done for me?  Let me not forget than many are starving, have unclean water and are homeless.  Move me to share the bounty I enjoy with the needy.  You entrust me with much so inspire me to feed, clothe and house those who cannot do so for themselves.  Bless our food pantries, homeless shelters and water purification efforts.  Give us good weather, Lord, so our farmers can produce for all your children.  May I always and everywhere give you thanks for “filling me with good things.”  Amen.
