Judges 13:2-7, 24-25

Psalm 71

Luke 1:5-25

His wife was barren and had borne no children.  Judges 13:2

But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren and both were advanced in years. Lk. 1:7

Lord, we shop on the internet, select an item, click on it and it appears at our doorstep a few days later.  Whether it be vending machines or microwave ovens we push a couple buttons and we receive what we want right now.  The story of Manoah his wife and Zechariah and Elizabeth show us that you don’t work like that.  Your love and desire for us is constant and reliable but you also are a God of surprises and perfect timing.  How you answer our prayers and when you answer them can be a mystery to us.  Both these parents waited a long time for the birth of their children.  They were born exactly when they needed to be born to fulfill your plan for them.  Lord, help be to be patient as your plan unfolds in my life.  Give me the perseverance to wait on you.  Show me that you often know what’s good for me better than I do.  Even Zechariah’s muteness had a purpose in your divine plan.   I lift up to you all married couples who desire children but are in waiting on you.  Give them faith in your wisdom and perfect timing.  Amen.
