“O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:31
Lord, do you ask this question of me today? The up and down faith of your disciples is graphically told in the gospels. One day they are proclaiming you Messiah and Lord of all to villages far and wide. The next day they give in to fear and doubt. My road to faith is a lot like theirs. The world and human nature give me so many reasons to doubt. When my faith in you is tested it’s hard to resist the invitation to give in to fear. I can only overcome this temptation with your grace. May the strength of your Holy Spirit raise me to greater faith and trust in your protection. May I rely on you when the storms of life surge against me. Help me to persevere when the wind is in my face and I don’t seem to be making any progress. Keep my heart free to believe, to trust, and to expect even greater things from you than walking on water. Amen
