Numbers 11:4-15

Psalm 81

Matthew 14:13-21

…he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds.  Matthew 14:19

Lord, you knew that there was little or no food in the place where you were.  It was not news to you when your disciples raised the problem to you.  Patiently you waited for them to express their concern and come to you for help.  This was a real teaching moment.  You involved them in your solution.  They participated in the miracle.  I too come to plead for solutions to my needs and the hungers of those around me.  Like this miracle in the wilderness you wait patiently until I am ready to be part of your miraculous plan.  You knew that if your disciples were to take the gospel message to the world they needed to actively cooperate with the Holy Spirit.  I think you are pleased when I work alongside you to feed the hungry, care for the sick and encourage the depressed.  Thank you, Lord, for giving me the honor to be a part of your presence in our hungry world.  And thank you for the grace to work for what I pray for.  Amen.
