April 7, 2017 Friday of the 5th Week in Lent-A

But the Lord is with me, like a mighty champion: Jeremiah 20:11
“…the Father is in me and I am in the Father.” John 10:38
Lord, you and your prophet Jeremiah were both threatened with death because of your speaking the truth. Because of the hostility of those who were opposed to the truth Jeremiah was tempted to keep silent or to run away from his calling. You were tempted in the desert to abandon your mission as well. But in the end, trust in the presence and power of God helped you both to prevail. Lord, I too am tempted to follow the path of least resistance, to take the easy way out. If it were not for your grace I would go that way. Each day can present a new challenge to my faithfulness to you. Dear Jesus, please continue to stand with me “like a mighty champion”. Fill me with the confidence that comes from trusting in you for all the strength I am going to need today. Please help me Lord, with this one temptation today. Amen.
