Jeremiah 11:18-20

Psalm 7

John 7:40-53

O Lord, my God, in you I take refuge…  Psalm 7:2

Lord, I am under attack.  Each day I am tempted by the world, the flesh and the devil to sin.  Each day my belief in you is challenged by the ways of mankind.  The popular culture tries to pull me away from you and the truth of your word.  False idols of pleasure, riches, comfort and tolerance of evil are placed before me.  Lord, I come to you and seek the safety that only you can provide.  Protect me and my family from the assaults of the evil one.  Save me from my own weaknesses.  Give me refuge from the world’s values and deceptions.  Lord, I cannot stay faithful to you on my own.  I must rely on your grace.  I trust that you are my refuge and my strength.  I believe that your mother Mary and all the saints are my allies and cheerleaders urging me on to victory.  Lord, I need your help with one particular temptation today.  I lay it at the foot of your cross.  Remove this darkness from my heart and so I can experience the joy of union with you.  Amen.
