Psalm 33
John 20:11-18
“They have taken my Lord, and I don’t know where they laid him.” John 20:13
Lord, Mary’s explanation for why your tomb was empty was that your body had been stolen. That “fact” had increased her sorrow and left her weeping at your grave. She didn’t consider the greater possibility for what she saw–that you had risen from the dead and were alive. Mary can be forgiven for her mistake because people just didn’t come back to life from crucifixion. I sometimes jump to conclusions too about what I see and experience. Like Mary,I first consider only the natural or human explanations for what happens in the world and in my life. Lord, remind me often that your Holy Spirit is here, is active and making a difference in my life and in the world. Don’t let me underestimate your power and your love. Help me to a greater faith in you as Lord or all creation. Nothing is impossible for you and your influence is unlimited. No plan of mine can even compare with yours. May I today turn first to you and your will for me and my family and believe that greater, bigger, more awesome things can happen when I look for you in faith. Amen.
