“Master, are you going to wash my feet?” John 13:6
Lord, my feet are smelly, dirty, scarred and bruised. They take a beating due to the roads I walk. They take me to places I shouldn’t go. They help me do things I shouldn’t do. They are so in need of being washed and healed and soothed. I can’t wash my own feet so you do it for me out of your love. You show me your love and give an example of what I should do to my fellow travelers on the road. Even the Son of God can stoop and serve me. Lord, it’s hard to know how to adequately respond to your giving of yourself in the great Sacrament of your love. How can I react to being washed clean by you? This night you invite us to continue the offering of yourself in the holy Mass. I am so privileged and blessed to approach your altar each and every day with my brothers and sisters who are your body on earth. You have left us the greatest memorial of yourself. You are truly with us in our journey to Easter. May I do this in memory of you. Amen.
