Acts of the Apostles 4:32-37

Psalm 93

John 3:7-15

The community of believers was of one heart and mind… Acts 4:32

Lord, this sounds too good to be true.  What came over these people?  Their unity and generosity seems unbelievable.  The only explanation is that the power of your Holy Spirit changed them and your holy Gospel led them to live this way.   They lived their faith in solidarity and action.  Incredibly, “there was no needy person among them.”  I’ve read that America is the most generous nation on earth.  Yet we still have the poor among us.  So we can do better.  The model of the first Christians encourages me to live in gratitude for all you have provided for me.  When I look back on the times I have been generous to others, you have always seen after my needs.  It seems when I give freely, I receive in abundance.  Lord, open my eyes to the needs of those around me.  Open my heart to be in unity with my brothers and sisters in supporting those in distress.  You have blessed me with time, talent and treasure.  May I recognize the dignity and value of everyone I meet especially those you place in my path.  Amen.
