March 21, 2022 Monday of the 3rd Week of Lent-C

2 Kings 5:1-15

Psalm 42, 43

Luke 4:24-30

Send forth your light and your fidelity; they shall lead me on…Ps.43:3

When the people in the synagogue heard this they were filled with fury.  Lk 4:28

Lord, you had to know that the people in Nazareth were really going to be ticked off at your words to them. They were familiar with your mighty deeds all over Galilee and wanted your miracles in their town.  They tried to kill you when you told them of God’s healing of the two foreigners. Instead of giving God glory and rejoicing for his goodness to the widow and the leper they “were filled with fury.” In another place we hear how you couldn’t perform any miracles in your hometown because of your neighbors’ lack of faith. How these people must have hurt your feelings for they were your friends and family! Lord, please rescue me from any hardness of heart you find in me. Help my heart to be open, compassionate and loving toward all your children no matter who they are or how they behave. I believe you are Lord and Savior of all people. This Lent, help me to give up any resentment or envy of others when you extend blessings to them. You have sufficient grace for all of us.  Amen.
